Beksha, Daniel B. "Dan" Class of 1973

Daniel B. "Dan" Beksha of Payson Street, Attleboro, a loving husband, father, brother and uncle, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Boston Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of 22 years of Kathleen Murphy Beksha. Born in Medway, Daniel was a son of the late Joseph M. and Anne (McCahill) Beksha Sr. He was raised in Medway and was a graduate of Medway High School. Dan was elected four years as class president and was a member of the varsity basketball team and also was a captain of the varsity football and baseball teams. He later earned a bachelor of arts degree with honors from Bridgewater State College and received a juris doctorate degreefrom the New England School of Law in Boston. Mr. Beksha was employed the past 14 years as a global account manager for the EMC Corporation in Hopkinton, responsible for the Unisys Corporation account. His wife, Kathleen, and two sons, Daniel and Patrick, were the staples of his life. Dan volunteered and coached hundreds of Attleboro youth games while supporting his sons and other youths as they developed their athletic talents. He was a coach for many Attleboro Youth Basketball teams, Attleboro Youth Baseball teams, Attleboro Youth Soccer teams, Hockomock All Star Summer Baseball teams and the AAU Atlantic Coast Badgers Baseball Team. Dan also enjoyed playing in the Attleboro Y.M.C.A. Mens Basketball League. He enjoyed skiing, biking, jogging, spending time on Mashnee Island and was an avid New England sports team fan. Dan was a member of the Franklin Country Club, past president of the Mashnee Association in Bourne and was a devoted communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro. In addition to his beloved wife, Kathleen, Dan is survived by his two loving sons, Daniel B. Beksha II, a junior at the University of Chicago, and Patrick Murphy Beksha, a junior at Bishop Feehan High School, both at home in Attleboro; three brothers, Edward Beksha of Franklin, Joseph Beksha and his wife, Renay, of Narragansett, R.I., and Peter Beksha of Franklin; two sisters, Joanne Beksha-Brown and Mary Mercer and her husband, Alan, all of Medway; a mother-in-law, Jessie Murphy of Attleboro; nephews, Edward Beksha Jr., Joseph Beksha III, John Beksha, Andrew Wilber, Richard Wilber, Peter Beksha Jr., Justin Mercer, Angus MacMaster, Cameron MacMaster, Michael Murphy and Andrew Murphy; and nieces, Casey Beksha, Lisa Beksha, Katie Beksha, Sophia MacMaster, Mariana Murphy and Alisa Murphy. He was the beloved son-in-law of the late Arthur C. Murphy and brother-in-law of the late Mark Brown. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 18, 2008, at 10 a.m., in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, celebrated by the Rev. Richard Roy, pastor. Following Mass, an invitation is extended for all to return with the family for a continued time of friendship and fellowship at St. John's Hospitality Center. At the request of the family, visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory may be made to The Arthur C. Murphy Education Foundation, 2 Thirteenth Street, Attleboro, MA 02703. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro.
